Yahoo Closed Email Accounts

YAHOO EMAIL
Important information regarding Yahoo email
Everyone has an email address or two. The question becomes when one has old email addresses which he or she no longer uses, what happens to them?

What happens if you do not
log into an email account for an extended period of time?
With Yahoo, effective July 15th 2013, any account which has not been logged into during the past 12 months, will be available for new users to use.
The other person will simply claim the account by subscribing for an account with your old user name!
Some of you might be thinking, “What’s the big deal, I no longer use that account anyways, so what’s so bad if I lose that address?”
The answer is, that for many people it is crucial that they keep their old accounts.
Why?
Remember when you logged into your financial institutions for the very first they asked for an email to be used in case of a forgotten password? If someone else now receives those emails, they will be able to access your bank accounts!
What should you do about it?
The first thing to do is to log into your old, unused email account right now so that it won’t be listed as an account which has not been accessed for the past several months.
The second step is to update all your information on various sites to your new email address.
Thirdly, we recommend setting up a forwarding rule, so that all emails which arrive at your old inboxes get forwarded to your current email address.
And finally, log into your old accounts every once in a while, to make sure you don’t lose them.
SOME EMAIL NOTES:
With Gmail, your account will always be yours, as long as you don’t delete the account. Once you actively delete the account, the account can no longer be used by anyone.
If you are currently paying for a personal email address, perhaps it’s time to start migrating to one of the many free options!
