What are some of the benefits of Windows 8?
BENEFITS:
- Mobility. Now you are able to have a tablet that truly functions with the Windows operating system.
- Increased security. The security upgrade starts from the BIOS and continues with malware and anti-virus protection.
- Apps. We all know apps for our smart phones, but with Windows 8, Microsoft will be creating apps to increase business productivity.
- Speed. Did you know that Windows 8 actually runs faster?
- Cool. Now that Windows 8 is touchscreen compatible and has apps, the manufacturers are producing different physical computers for Windows 8 – so we are no longer limited to just a a desktop or laptop.
DRAWBACKS:
As with any new item, there are quirks which need to get tinkered with, do you want to be the guinea pig? Windows (as expected) already put out some updates, some listed as crucial.
Should you get Windows 8?
With the hype of Windows 8 and its release at the end of October, many people are asking – should I get it?
For those looking to get new computers (especially on Black Friday) there might not be much of a choice, since many of the new computers being sold are Windows 8. For those that have a choice or want to upgrade, here are our initial thoughts:
For those who never used a computer before, Windows 8 is more intuitive. With the cell phone look (and feel for those that have a touch screen) it is easier to maneuver around.
For those who are currently using Windows Vista or 7, Windows 8 will require a slight learning curve. So far, the biggest issue we are seeing is the lack of the start button in its usual place.
For those who are currently using Windows XP, there are some major differences. The back interface of Windows 8 is similar to some extent to Windows Vista and 7, which is quite an upgrade from Windows XP. Another key point to keep in mind when upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 8 is the compatibility of your programs.
The bottom line is, if you are simply looking to upgrade, we would recommend waiting a little longer. If you are going to buy on Black Friday, enjoy the latest technology!
