Mouse Tricks and Windows8 Shortcuts

A few weeks ago, we discussed keyboard shortcuts. This week we will give some rather unknown mouse tips!

CTRL + scroll in/out – will zoom in/out of the current page opened
SHIFT + scroll – will scroll back to all previous webpages viewed in the web browser (it’s a super-fast “back button”)

When working with text…
Double click left button – will select the word mouse is hovering over
Triple click left button – will select entire paragraph

To adjust open programs on your screen…
Drag the title to the top of the screen – it will maximize the window
Drag the title bar to left or right edge of the screen – will open the window a full 50%, so that you can compare to documents side by side

What if the shortcut is not working?
Try it in a different browser! Some of these tricks are not supported for every browser.

If move mouse in a certain spot…
Hover the mouse in top or bottom right of screen – Charms menu will be displayed
Hover the mouse over the bottom right of screen – Will display the metro look, click and switches to metro look
Hover the mouse over the (very) bottom right of screen and left click- list of options populate

Some new Windows 8 shortcuts…
Windows key + start typing – will start a search for the program you are looking for
Windows key + Q – Opens the search bar
Windows key + C – Opens the charm menu

Some old Windows shortcuts…
ALT + TAB – Switch between open programs
