KEEP YOUR INBOX CLEAN

While some enjoy seeing 4000 messages in their inbox, some like to run a clean shop and just have what still needs to be taken care of in their inbox.

How do you keep your inbox clean?

There are 2.5 ways to accomplish this objective.

 

One option: Delete an email when your are done.

This is not the generally recommended option, since you can not reference a deleted item at a later date.

 

Another option: File the email into a folder

To create a folder: When in Gmail > Select “MORE” from the list of labels on the left side > Select “CREATE NEW LABEL” > Enter name of new label > Select “CREATE”

To move an email into the folder: Drag the email to the desired label

 

A similar option to file: Archive the email

Archived emails will quickly get it out of the inbox, which works especially well on the cell phone. To find an archive email: Select “MORE” from the list of labels on the left side > Select “ALL MAIL” > Search for what you are looking for

 

SKIP THE INBOX

Ever found it annoying that when ever you delete an email, it takes you back to the inbox, so that you can go to your next email?

How can you go from email-to-email, without going back to the inbox after you delete or archive an email?

 

First need to turn the feature on by:

Select the wrench/ settings button > LABS > Auto-advance by Bruce D > Select “ENABLE” > Select SAVE CHANGES

 

Now you need to customize it:

Select the wrench/ settings button > ​GENERAL > AUTO ADVANCE > Choose “GO TO THE NEXT CONVERSATION or GO TO THE PREVIOUS CONVERSATION > Select SAVE CHANGES

Select the wrench/ settings button > LABS > Custom keyboard shortcuts by Alan S > Select “ENABLE” > Select SAVE CHANGES

 

Now you need to customize it:

​Select the wrench/ settings button > ​KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS > After changes are made select SAVE CHANGES
